The Watersmeet Hotel is a luxury four-star hotel in Woolacombe with stunning sea views across the waters of Woolacombe Bay. The hotel overlooks Combesgate Beach and North Devon's rugged coastline with its own private steps down to the sandy beach. With an array of facilities such as an award winning two-AA rosette restaurant, informal bistro restaurant, indoor and outdoor pools with spa facilities, it is hard to fault in any way.

The extensive garden and terraces look out over the sandy beach, rocky cliffs and there is even a view of Lundy Island on the horizon. It almost goes without saying that watching a sunset dip into the sea in a heart-warming experience. There is an outdoor swimming pool in the garden just above the beach, and another indoors in the spa. The spa provides an array of massages in the therapy room, a luxurious way to spend a little me-time.

The two restaurants at Watersmeet both boast stunning sea views to enjoy over dinner. There is formal a la carte dining in the Pavilion restaurant as well as informal contemporary dining in the Bistro. Afternoon Tea is also available in the lounge or on the terrace or lawn, whichever you may prefer. The restaurants serve well cooked, classical English dishes with a few modern European influences thrown in for good measure. With the sea on one side and North Devon countryside on the other, high quality local ingredients come in abundance. Venison and lamb comes from Exmoor and fish comes in fresh from Brixham. Wherever you decide to sit, you’ll have a spectacular view of the sandy beach, rolling surf, rugged North Devon coastline and Lundy Island.

All of the rooms at Watermeet feature the very best pocket sprung beds, the thickest and most luxurious duvets (like sleeping under a gigantic marshmallow!), crisp white linen and superior memory-foam pillows. All but three of the hotel’s rooms offer spectacular sea views taking in Combesgate Beach, Lundy Island and Baggy Point. A number of the bedrooms have white, wooden balconies where you can sit and watch magnificent sunsets behind Woolacombe Bay. Naturally all the rooms feature all the features you might expect from a beautiful boutique hotel such as this.

North Devon is an excellent base for a family holiday in Devon with a wide range of activities on its doorstep. There is the coastal path or Exmoor for walkers, Woolacombe and many other beaches for surfers, horse riding too. Boat trips from Ilfracombe will take you on a seal cruise (when you may also encounter dolphins or porpoises), or a bird cruise, or even all the way across to Lundy Island for the day. There are fine country houses to see at Arlington Court, Tapeley Park and Hartland Abbey or you might just pay a visit to Lynton and Lynmouth.
