Award-winning Milltown House is a famous boutique B&B in Dingle that is renowned for its connection to Hollywood stars such as Robert Mitchum – who lived here in 1969 during the filming of the classic Oscar-winning movie, ‘Ryans Daughter’. It is the iconic luxury accommodation on Dingle Bay, with water lapping at the end of the garden and a stunning view across to the town of Dingle.

Hosts Patrick, Stephen and Seamus (reputedly the largest dog in Ireland) will welcome guests to their lovingly restored hotel. They have recently invested in a new library-bar, the ‘Robert Mitchum Bar’ which is fully licensed and allows them to treat guests to a cold beer or a nice glass of wine on arrival or after check-in, a service appreciated by all guests after a day of travelling or before going out to enjoy one of Dingles’ many fine restaurants. There is always a complimentary drink on offer during the daily ‘6 o’clock toast’.

Full Irish breakfast, or a lighter alternative, is served each day in the conservatory, with a view across the garden to Dingle Bay and Dingle itself. This gourmet treat uses almost all local ingredients, including 'Milltown Sausage' from Dingle's very own artisan butcher. For something else extra-special, high tea is available by arrangement.  A vast array of tasty treats includes home-made breads, crepes, canopies, sandwiches, pastries and cakes. Depending on the weather, this can be served in front of a peat fire in the reception rooms, in the conservatory with the patio doors thrown open, or out on the lawn with the spectacular view of the mountains and Dingle Bay.

The Robert Mitchum Room is the very bedroom occupied by the star himself during his stay at Milltown House. This room has one of the best sea views of the harbour in all of Dingle and is much sought after because of its historical legacy and its world-class view. Most of the rooms have a sea view though, and lots of space, and an en-suite bathroom with bath and shower. Dogs are admitted in the three downstairs rooms, and Seamus will be glad to welcome the canine members of your family.

It's only a 15 minute walk into Dingle with views of Dingle Harbour all the way. Once there you will find pubs and restaurants galore, artisan workshops making and selling jewellery, crystal and whiskey, and dolphin-watching boat trips. In the other direction you can take a peaceful walk along the beach (Seamus will be pleased to accompany you) or take your car and go right out around Slea Head (the most westerly point of Ireland) and look across to the Blasket islands.
