The Cuan
, 6-10 The Square, Strangford village, Co Down.
The Cuan is a family owned and run hotel located in the beautiful conservation village of Strangford, right on the shores of Strangford Lough. It brings the flavour of a typical Irish pub right up to date and blesses it with quality. The owners and the whole team are passionate about their food experience so the restaurant is open all day, specialising in seafood but not ignoring meat, vegetarian and gluten-free alternatives.
The nine newly renovated guest rooms have all been individually designed by international interior designer, Suzanne Garuda. There is one single room, all others have a king size bed and some have an additional single to suit families. There is also an accessible room with an en-suite wetroom and one room can accommodate a dog by prior arrangement.
The position of The Cuan could hardly be better. It sits in the main square of Strangford village just 100 metres from the shore of Strangford Lough itself, and perfectly convenient for the Strangford-Portaferry ferry. Strangford Lough is inevitably a great base for sailing, boating and canoeing, while the shores are ideal for walking and cycling. Within easy reach there are the Mourne Mountains, Downpatrick Steam Railway and Tollymore and Kilbroney national parks. Even Belfast itself is not far away, where you can visit the shipyard where the Titanic was built.
The Cuan was the Game of Thrones cast’s choice for accommodation, food and drink over a number of weeks while filming at Winterfell Castle.
